Kinesiology taping is a simple yet highly helpful treatment option that can be used on a wide variety of ailments and injuries to reduce your pain, decrease swelling and bruising, and shorten the time needed to rehab your injuries. Kinesiology tape is light weight, flexible and designed to move with the skin so it will not restrict your range of motion. It is also hypoallergenic and is suitable for use in all age groups.
Kinesiology tape acts by gently lifting the skin from the underlying tissues, which results in improved circulation, increased lymphatic drainage, and reduced pressure on nerve endings that may be causing pain. Kinesiology taping can also help position skin and muscles to help with posture, proper muscle activation, and aid in muscle relaxation.
This treatment is used in combination with other treatments such as myofascial release, electro-acupuncture and therapeutic exercises. The tape has been widely used during the past several Summer and Winter Olympics by many athletes to improve their athletic performance.
