What can I expect during the initial visit?

The initial chiropractic assessment consists of a thorough health history and physical examination that will help identify what the problem is and which tissues are involved. It will also help to determine the root cause of both the pain and the resulting dysfunction. After the assessment is completed, Dr. Hayes, D.C. will then discuss with you the diagnosis and the suggested therapies that may be most useful in treating the problem.  She  will work with you to incorporate your goals and develop a treatment plan that is suited to you.

What can I expect during a treatment?

The goal of chiropractic care is to resolve pain, restore function, and reduce incidences of recurrence. To do this, a variety of techniques including joint manipulation or mobilization, myofascial release, soft tissue tools, acupuncture, breathing and biofeedback techniques, therapeutic and corrective exercises, kinesiology taping, nutritional and lifestyle counselling.

A chiropractic joint manipulation, or adjustment, is a treatment in which the chiropractor uses their hands to apply a very quick, precise, and safe amount of pressure directly on the problem area of the spine. This restores normal motion of the joint and relieves tension in the surrounding tissues. You may hear a cracking or popping sound. Adjustments rarely hurt. Often there is usually some immediate pain relief and a sense of relaxation.
