Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a soft tissue treatment using a hands-on approach to decrease muscle tension, break-up scar tissue, reduce adhesions, decrease pain, and improve range of motion. To achieve this, a variable amount of pressure is applied to the soft tissues and often passive or active motion is added in the area of the body being treated. Both, the pressure and the speed of movement can be altered based on patient tolerance and to optimize both comfort and benefit.

Myofascial Release can be used to treat muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. It is beneficial in the treatment of tight and tender muscles, repetitive strain injuries, post-surgical scar tissue, joint dysfunction, and adhesions that restrict range of motion. Adhesions develop in tissues that are under constant stress due to prolonged athletic activity, poor posture, and repetitive movements or after an injury.
